Flat Tops Wilderness Area White River & Routt National Forest
Glenwood Springs, Colorado

This area is in Northwest Colorado.  Much of it is bounded by the Colorado and Yampa Rivers.  The North and South Forks of the White River head in the wilderness.  There are vast open spaces above timberline interlaced with deep canyons.  The timber is mostly Engelmann spruce and sub-alpine fir.  Some areas also have good aspen and lodgepine.  The entire area has many streams, lakes and potholes.  Add to this a good variety of flowers and it makes exquisite scenery.  This area is home to deer, elk, black bear, coyotes and numerous small animals.  We have an excellent chance to see Blue Grouse, Ptarmigan and Golden Eagles as well as many lesser birds.

Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness Area White River National Forest

This is very rugged country with seven peaks over 14,000 feet and several passes over 12,000 feet.  This provides plenty of panoramic views for camera action.  The area ausually recieves a good amount of precipitation through snow and rain which results in an area second to none in wildflowers.  One of the areas we ride through is referred to as "The flower garden of the Rockies."  You may have a good opportunity to see deer, elk, bighorn sheep and goats.

We have put together unique trips.  Our high country pack trips give you a chance to take a horseback ride through wilderness areas with streams, lakes and high passes that afford exquisite views of the Rocky Mountains.  There are plenty of opportunities for fishing, photography, viewing wildlife and a variety of wildflowers.
